This winter season, FLAMANT is delighted to introduce you to the beauty and heritage of Longpi Pottery, a centuries-old Indian clay craft that adds elegance and warmth to your cooking and dining experience.
Originally first created in the Longpi Village in India, the Longpi Pottery contains only two ingredients: serpentinite stone and weathered clay. The serpentine stone gives the pottery its strength, while the clay ensures a smooth finish. The materials are first mixed in precise proportions with water to create durable and heat-resistant tableware which is safe for cooking and serving, but is also microwave, oven, dishwasher and gas stove safe.
What makes Longpi Pottery rare is that in the second phase of the craft process, the pottery is entirely made by hand, without the use of a pottery wheel. In the next stages of the process, the shaped pieces are let to dry for almost a week. After that, the pieces are set on fire for five hours and then rubbed with chiron leaves for an extraordinary smooth polishing as finishing touch.
Longpi Pottery is not just about form and function—it tells a story of tradition, craftsmanship and sustainability. Each piece is respectfully handmade by skilled artisans in the Manipur region, using natural techniques that have been passed down through generations. Making every bowl, plate, or serving dish a unique work of art.
The beautifully obtained deep black colour of the Longpi Pottery is completely natural and perfectly matches the look and feel of FLAMANT’s timeless designs. The pottery is free from harmful chemicals, making it an eco-conscious choice. By supporting Longpi artisans, FLAMANT contributes to the preservation of a traditional craft and sustainable living. Each piece made has a unique story to tell. Whether you use Longpi Pottery for everyday meals or to elevate special occasions, it will always bring a touch of rustic refinement to your table setting.
This Blueberry and Apple Autumn Crumble is the perfect cozy breakfast or dessert, combining seasonal fruits with warming spices.
